Let me clarify: The vast majority, millions, who live in southeast Florida must buy insurance from one provider...the State of Florida and they must do so if they wish to obtain a mortgage calculator with taxes and insurance. Paying a mandatory fee to the state for services I think is the definition of a tax. Property taxes and insurance premiums all go to the State. There is only so much money a homeowner can pay.
